BiblioCommons Brings the One-Click Experience to Life with New Enhancements

Toronto, Ontario, June 27, 2025 — BiblioCommons is introducing a suite of powerful new enhancements designed to simplify and unify the online library experience.

Today's digital library experience is often fragmented and complex. Patrons are expected to navigate multiple platforms, juggle separate accounts, and search across disconnected apps to find the information or services they need. This level of complexity creates barriers, and when patrons feel overwhelmed, they disengage. BiblioCommons is addressing this challenge with a clear goal: bringing patrons closer to the library, one click at a time, in what we refer to as the “One-Click Experience.” It means reducing friction at every step by making it possible to log in with a single click, explore the full breadth of the library from one screen, discover all offerings in one place, and read or engage within a single app. This vision guides the development of our latest platform enhancements, each designed to simplify the digital journey, strengthen patron engagement, and bridge the gap between patrons and their libraries. "Bringing patrons closer to the library has long been a guiding principle for BiblioCommons, and these latest enhancements mark a major step toward that goal," shared Marty Tarle, General Manager at BiblioCommons.

The first of many enhancements is Frictionless Onboarding, designed to provide users with instant, welcoming access to everything the library offers, with just one click to log in. Whether they're along-time patron or new to the library, users will benefit from clearer UX, improved login options, and a new "My Library Dashboard" that gives a personalized view of their library activity. Patrons will be able to easily switch between their accounts, access accounts for their children or family members, and navigate across multiple library systems that use BiblioCore. For patrons who live in multiple service areas, commute across regions, or access more than one library, this unified experience removes barriers and makes it easier to stay engaged.

BiblioCommons is also continuing to reshape the discovery experience with the launch of the Browse & Discover homepage, which was first available in BiblioCore last year and is now available in BiblioApps as of 2025. Inspired by the best features of popular streaming platforms, Browse & Discover invites patrons to explore curated collections, themed pathways, and personalized content—all selected by library staff and displayed in beautifully simple, modern layouts. With just one click, patrons can shift from "I know what I want" to "Help me explore." This new experience results in more time spent in the catalog, more checkouts, and more meaningful engagement with the full range of the library's offerings.

Additionally, the BiblioCommons team is bringing even more relevance to search through enhanced Content Promotions (previously referred to as Personalized Promotions). With so many patrons overwhelmed by complicated online experiences, it's more important than ever to make every interaction count. Content Promotions surface contextual recommendations, such as events, blogs, or online resources, directly on the search results and title record pages. These placements allow patrons to uncover more of the library's offerings with minimal effort, creating opportunities for deeper engagement and more meaningful discovery.

By reducing the number of clicks it takes to log in, explore, and discover, these new enhancements are actively closing the gap between patrons and the library. Each improvement reflects BiblioCommons’ continued commitment to delivering a more cohesive, user-friendly, and future-ready online experience—one that positions the public library as an essential and accessible resource in the digital age.
