Partners with Penguin Random House to Expand eBook Offerings

BiblioCommons, the only software vendor to focus exclusively on the online experience of public library patrons, announced today that it has expanded its eBook offerings through a new agreement with Penguin Random House. The agreement will add over 38,000 eBook titles to those already available to libraries through the BiblioDigital eBook acquisitions platform.

BiblioDigital’s white-labeled service allows libraries to offer library-centered eBook discovery and reading. The service ensures that discovery, borrowing, and reading are fully integrated with the library’s print collections and online catalog. As a result, eBook users are always able to discover and explore the full extent of the library’s collections and services.

The new agreement with Penguin Random House includes Random House titles, titles from Random House imprints, and titles from publishers that Random House distributes including new titles and bestsellers.

Skip Dye, Vice President and Director of Library Marketing and Digital Sales, Sales Operations for Penguin Random House, said, “We are very pleased to make titles from Random House, Knopf Doubleday, Crown Publishing Group, and Random House Children’s Books imprints available to public libraries via the BiblioDigital platform. BiblioCommons is helping public libraries play a new role in the discovery of our titles and authors.”

According to Patrick Kennedy, Co-Founder and President of BiblioCommons, “Our library-centered eBook platform, in combination with our socially-enabled catalog, provides library staff with unique tools to distribute attention across all of the library’s collections. We are pleased to be working with Penguin Random House to offer enhanced discovery and reading experiences across mid-list, back-list, and local authors—as well as current bestsellers.”

The BiblioDigital reader is fully responsive to mobile, tablet and web devices, and its unique sharing and social media features make it ideally suited to mobile devices. All titles purchased through BiblioDigital are instantly available to patrons for discovery and reading without requiring any MARC imports to the ILS.
